Government Not Concerned Foreign heap at SBI Funds

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Number of foreign funds flooded the Bank Indonesia Certificates (SBI) did not make the government worried. Coordinating Minister for Economic Hatta Rajasa said it was a consequence of the fundamental conditions in the domestic perekenomian better.

"We do not get too panicky let alone too worried. Waspada it necessarily," Hatta said after meeting with President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on Tuesday (10/08/2010).

Hatta reason, Bank Indonesia (BI) also have set up a policy so that foreign funds can not be in and out just like that. He suggested that BI can set rules so that money settles in the SBI last longer. "Maybe you need plus a couple of months, three months, six months or longer," said Hatta.

Foreign placements in SBI's monetary instruments continue to lunge up. Bank Indonesia, the latest data released today noted, until the first week of August 2010 (6/8/2010), the value of foreign SBI reached Rp 54.71 trillion. That number increased from the previous week's position that only Rp 42.24 trillion.

Not only invaded SBI, foreign investors also buy government securities (GS). In the same period, foreign positions in the GS at Rp 176.41 trillion. Rising from the previous week ie Rp 171.82 trillion.
