Four Types of Solar Eclipse

VIVAnews - the natural phenomenon of solar eclipse will occur this afternoon. Eclipse time was the longest in the third millennium. Duration is 11 minutes and 8 seconds. Eclipse with the tempo more than 11 minutes will happen 1033 years from now. Unfortunately only some of the people of Indonesia who can see this phenomenon. That was not the eclipse of the sun ring (GMC).

Sun ring can only be witnessed in 11 countries / regions, namely Chad, Central African Republic, northern Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, Kenya, southern Somalia, Indian Ocean, southern India, northern Sri Lanka, Myanmar, and China.

Indonesian people in Sumatra, Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, Kalimantan, Sulawesi and some can only watch partial solar eclipse (GMS).

Solar eclipse is an event tertutupinya dish by dish moon and the sun was observed from the surface of the Earth. This solar eclipse always occurs when the new moon phase. However, not every new moon solar eclipse because the moon's orbit around the earth's field does not coincide with the field of the Earth's orbit around the sun (called the ecliptic), but forming an angle of about 5.2 degrees. Only when the new moon phase and position of the moon in orbit around the moon and ekliptikalah intersection, this solar eclipse will occur.

Climatology Meteorology and Geophysics Agency explained that there are four types of eclipses, the eclipse of the Sun Ring (GMC), Total Solar Eclipse (GMT), the Hybrid Solar Eclipse (GMH), and Solar Eclipse Part (GMS). This division depends on the Earth-Moon distance, Earth-sun distance, and location of the observer on the surface of the Earth when the eclipse occurs.

Earth-sun distance itself varies between 1.471 x 108 km, which occurs in about January 3, and 1.521 x 108 km, which occurred at about 6 July. Because the diameter of the Sun 1.392 x 106 km, the angular diameter of the Sun (diameter of the Sun is visible from the Earth) varies between 32.531 and 31.462 minutes arc minutes arc. The Earth-Moon distance which varies between 3.566 and 4.064 x 105 km x 105 km causes the angular diameter varies between 33.468 and 29.392 minutes arc minutes arc, given the diameter of the Moon is 3.475 x 103 km.

As can be seen, although the Earth-sun distance is about 400 times more distant than the Earth-Moon distance, but because the diameter of the sun 400 times the diameter of the Moon, then the angular diameter of the Sun and Moon are not much different.

The variation of the diameter of the second angle of celestial bodies that determine whether an eclipse including the GMC, GMT or GMH. If the diameter of the Sun angle is greater than the diameter of the angle of the Moon, then gerhananya including GMC. As if the diameter of the Sun angle is smaller than the diameter of the corner of the Moon, the GMT was happening. When the diameter of the Sun angle is almost equal to the diameter of the Moon angle, then that happened GMH.

In addition to the angular diameter, the facts determine the location of the observer also the view the eclipse was happening. The three kinds of eclipse occurs when the observer at a particular location looks exactly cover the dish Moon disc of the Sun. If the observed is not exactly cover the dish Moon disc of the Sun, the GMS was happening. Closure of the dish by dish Moon Sun can be expressed in units of percentage and called the eclipse magnitude.

Well, today the moon is at new moon phase and position in orbit around the moon and the ecliptic intersect. So on this day will occur an eclipse. This afternoon the Earth-sun distance is 1.472 x 108 km, so that its angular diameter is 32.508 minutes of arc.

The Earth-Moon distance when it is 4.054 x 105 km, so that the diameter of the corner of the Moon is 29.467 minutes of arc. Because the diameter of the Sun angle was larger than the diameter of the angle of the Moon, then the type of eclipse happens is GMC.
