Vendor government aids the transition to IPv6

JAKARTA: NetApp became the first storage vendor that is ready to help government agencies to migrate to Internet Protocol version 6th (IPv6).

Dale Wickizer, Public Sector Chief Technology Officer of NetApp says IPv6 support better interoffice communication of government agencies including the public through the Internet. "IPv6 is not only mengakomodiasi Internet address more than the previous version, but also support the process more efficient routing and security teritegrasi , "he said today.

With that advantage, he said, it is very important for vendors of information technology to ensure that their products can work with IPv6 so that government agencies can make the transition smoothly and network with minimal constraints.

IP is a method that allows computers to communicate with one another through the Internet.

IPv4 address space is expected to be finished around the year 2011 to 2012 based on the level of usage at this address. IPv6 offers a number of improvements to IPv4, but, most importantly, IPv6 would provide enough addresses for every region, country, and organizations around the world to have a number of IP addresses is more than sufficient to meet the need.

Three operators of wireless Internet service provider Telkomsel, Indosat and XL is ready to activate the system Axiata IPv6 in corporate and consumer retail segment at the level of application and the network later this year.

The same thing is being prepared in the Internet service provider in Indonesia. NetApp itself is currently helping the United States government body that to this day still use IPv4 and IPv6 transition to middle. While IPv6 is expected to walk side by side with IPv4 for a long period of time, the IPv4 address depletion is a constraint on the new network and application usage and can cause the installation of which requires more IPv4 addresses or IPv6 access to the source.

With the improvement and expansion of capacity at the address, more efficient routing, and security and mobility features that exist, IPv6 is a significant improvement on the existing IPv4 protocol today.
