UAE Asset Freeze 19 Libyan officials

Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has ordered the freezing of Libyan assets of 19 officials on the basis of UN sanctions against the regime Moammar Khadafy, according to the official state news agency WAM Gulf on Monday (6/20/2011).

"The central bank has ordered banks, corporations and financial institutions to freeze assets of 19 Libyan officials in accordance with the provisions of resolutions 1970 and 1973 the UN Security Council," the agency said.

Abdel Rahim al-Awadi, a senior bank official, was quoted by WAM said the central bank has collected information on assets and accounts to the 19 Libyan officials are unnamed.
